The business problem

Annai Printers managed an active field sales force responsible for visiting retail shops daily, collecting FMCG product orders, and reporting back to the central office. The entire operation depended on the salesperson’s own discipline — there was no automated way to confirm which shops had been visited or whether orders were placed from the correct location.

By the time orders reached the office, they had passed through multiple informal steps: paper notes, phone calls, verbal handoffs, and manual ERP entry. This created delays, errors, and gaps in the data that management used to plan stock and fulfilment.

What Tech4LYF built

Tech4LYF developed a purpose-built mobile ordering application integrated natively with Odoo ERP, designed specifically for FMCG field sales operations.

The mobile app works on the salesperson’s smartphone. When they arrive at a shop, the app checks their live GPS coordinates against geofencing zones configured for each retail outlet. Only when the salesperson is confirmed to be within the defined radius of the correct shop does the system unlock the order entry screen. Orders submitted from outside the zone are blocked automatically — the geofence ensures every order reflects a real, physical shop visit.

Once an order is placed, it transmits directly to Odoo ERP in real time. The ERP receives the incoming order, runs validation, routes it through the standard fulfilment workflow, updates inventory allocation, and makes the order visible to management — all without any manual re-entry by office staff. Management teams access a live Odoo dashboard showing order inflows by route, salesperson activity, shop visit logs, and pending fulfilment status across the full field sales network.

The app was also built to function reliably on low-bandwidth mobile networks, ensuring salespeople in remote shop locations could capture and submit orders without connectivity failures causing disruption.
