Conveyor scraper blade monitoring system technology plays a critical role in heavy industrial environments where conveyor systems operate continuously in harsh, remote, and often unmanned areas.
A heavy industrial conveyor solutions company needed a reliable way to monitor scraper blade life without depending on manual inspection. These scraper blades are installed in difficult-to-access locations where continuous human monitoring is not practical, safe, or operationally efficient.
Tech4LYF designed and developed an Industrial IoT-based monitoring device that could be mounted directly on the scraper blade assembly. The device measures blade wear behavior through angle-based monitoring and sends real-time data to the cloud using multiple connectivity options including LoRa, BLE, WiFi, and industrial SIM-based cellular communication.
The solution helped transform scraper blade maintenance from a manual, inspection-driven process into a connected, data-driven monitoring system with dashboard visibility and life-end alerts.
The client’s scraper blades were working in demanding conveyor environments where manual inspection was not always practical. Since the area was unmanned, the operations team needed a reliable way to understand blade life without physically checking the equipment every time.
Key challenges included:
No continuous visibility into scraper blade life
Difficulty inspecting blades in remote and unmanned conveyor areas
Risk of blade wear going unnoticed until performance dropped
High dependency on manual maintenance checks
Limited ability to predict when replacement was required
Harsh operating conditions requiring rugged and reliable hardware
Need for multiple connectivity options because industrial sites vary in network availability
The client needed more than a sensor. They needed a complete Industrial IoT monitoring system that could survive real industrial conditions, communicate reliably, and give maintenance teams actionable visibility.
Tech4LYF developed a custom Industrial IoT-based scraper blade life monitoring system with dedicated hardware, embedded firmware, multi-network connectivity, cloud integration, dashboard monitoring, and alert workflows.
The device was designed to be mounted directly on the scraper blade assembly. It monitors blade movement and wear behavior by measuring angle variations. As the scraper blade wears over time, the device captures these changes and sends the data to the cloud.
To make the device suitable for real industrial deployment, Tech4LYF developed a custom PCB board and integrated multiple communication options into a single compact device. The system supports LoRa, BLE, WiFi, and industrial SIM-based connectivity, allowing it to work across different site conditions.
The collected data is sent to a cloud platform where users can monitor scraper blade life through a dashboard. Alerts are triggered when the blade approaches end-of-life conditions, helping maintenance teams take action before performance is affected.
A compact device designed for mounting on scraper blade assemblies in harsh industrial conveyor locations.
Continuous monitoring of scraper blade angle and condition to understand wear progression.
A flexible communication architecture that allows the system to operate across remote, local, and cellular network conditions.
Complete hardware and firmware development for industrial-grade monitoring and communication.
A centralized dashboard that allows maintenance and operations teams to monitor blade life remotely.
Alert logic that helps teams act before the scraper blade reaches end-of-life condition.
The solution transformed scraper blade maintenance from a manual inspection activity into a connected monitoring workflow.
Maintenance teams gained remote visibility into blade life from unmanned conveyor areas. Instead of depending only on scheduled inspection or operator observation, they could monitor scraper blade condition through a dashboard and receive alerts when attention was required.
The custom IoT device improved the client’s ability to understand blade wear behavior, plan replacements, and reduce the risk of unexpected scraper performance issues.
The project also created a scalable Industrial IoT foundation that can be extended across multiple conveyor lines, plants, and heavy-industry environments.
By combining sensor intelligence, custom PCB development, industrial connectivity, and cloud monitoring, Tech4LYF helped convert a hard-to-monitor mechanical component into a connected predictive maintenance asset.
