How the project moved from business problem to working system

India’s large facilities have operated without indoor visibility for decades —
relying on guesswork, manual rounds, and expensive foreign RTLS systems that
most organisations cannot afford. Tech4LYF changed that by engineering India’s
first practical indoor employee tracking system using BLE beacons and LoRa —
giving facility managers real-time zone maps, idle and moving status detection,
and instant restricted area alerts across any building, on affordable hardware,
without proprietary licensing costs.

The business problem

Large facilities across India — manufacturing plants, corporate campuses,
hospitals, warehouses, and government complexes — share a common blind spot.
Once a person walks through the entrance, the organisation loses track of
exactly where they are.

GPS signals do not penetrate concrete structures. Standard access control
systems only record entry and exit at doors. Wi-Fi triangulation lacks the
room-level accuracy that real operations require. And expensive proprietary
RTLS (Real-Time Location System) platforms from global vendors cost crores
to deploy — placing them completely out of reach for most Indian enterprises.

The result is that facility managers across India have been forced to operate
with zero indoor visibility. They cannot answer the most basic operational
questions in real time:

– Where exactly is each employee right now — which floor, which zone, which room?
– Is that person moving through their work area or have they been stationary for too long?
– Who is inside the server room, chemical store, or restricted production zone right now?
– If an emergency happens, where are all the people in the building at this moment?
– How occupied is each zone throughout the day — and how does that occupancy actually change?
– Are contractors and visitors staying within their permitted areas?
– Can a low-cost, infrastructure-light system solve this at room-level accuracy?

No affordable, practical solution built specifically for Indian enterprise
conditions existed. Most available systems were either too expensive, too
complex to deploy, or designed for Western infrastructure that does not match
the construction realities of Indian facilities — thick concrete walls,
irregular floor plans, dense multi-storey buildings.

Tech4LYF identified this gap and built the solution from the ground up.

What Tech4LYF built

Tech4LYF engineered India’s first practical indoor employee tracking system
by combining two technologies that had never been paired at this level of
integration for enterprise facility use in India — BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy)
beacons for precision indoor positioning and LoRa (Long Range radio) for
reliable, wall-penetrating data transmission across large, complex buildings.

The system operates across three tightly integrated layers.

Layer one: The positioning infrastructure. BLE beacons are mounted at
calculated positions throughout the facility — on walls, columns, and
ceilings — covering every room, corridor, stairwell, and zone. Each beacon
continuously broadcasts a unique identifier signal. The density of beacon
placement is calibrated to the required accuracy level — room-level,
sub-zone, or corridor-level precision — for the specific facility layout.

Layer two: The personal tracking device. Every employee carries a compact
tracking tag, embedded either in a smart wearable on the wrist or integrated
directly into their existing ID card. The device requires zero input from the
employee. It passively listens to the surrounding beacon signals, calculates
the strongest cluster, determines the current zone with room-level accuracy,
and transmits that data over LoRa to the central gateway. LoRa is the
critical differentiator here — it penetrates reinforced concrete walls,
travels across multiple floors, and maintains reliable transmission across
distances that Bluetooth alone cannot cover. Power consumption is low enough
that devices run for days without a charge.

Layer three: The live intelligence dashboard. A web-based control panel
receives all incoming location transmissions and renders them on an
interactive digital floor map in real time. Every tracked employee appears
as a live marker on the map, positioned in their current zone. The system
continuously analyses signal patterns to determine whether each person is
stationary or moving — surfacing idle status, movement routes, and zone
transitions as live operational intelligence. Restricted zones are
configured in the dashboard with custom alert rules. When any tracked device
enters a restricted area, an instant notification fires to the relevant
manager — showing who entered, which zone was breached, and the exact
timestamp. No manual monitoring. No delay. No missed incident.

This is the complete system. It runs on affordable hardware, deploys without
proprietary licensing, and scales to any facility size or complexity.

The outcome

Tech4LYF deployed and validated the indoor employee tracking system across
a multi-room, multi-zone facility environment — and every component of the
system performed with complete reliability.

BLE beacon signal clustering successfully delivered room-level employee
positioning across all mapped zones. LoRa transmission carried location data
reliably from every part of the facility to the central gateway — through
thick concrete walls, across multiple floors, and through areas where
Bluetooth signals alone would have been unreliable. The tracking device,
embedded in a wearable form factor, transmitted continuously and required
no action from the employee carrying it.

The live dashboard displayed real-time employee positions on the interactive
floor plan exactly as designed. Managers saw at a glance which zones were
occupied, which employees were active, and where movement clusters were
forming. The idle and moving detection system correctly identified stationary
versus active employees using signal change patterns — without false positives
that would create alert fatigue in a real operational environment.

Restricted area breach alerts triggered correctly every single time a tracked
device crossed into a designated restricted zone. The notification reached
the dashboard within seconds — including the employee identity, zone name,
and entry timestamp — giving managers the information they needed to respond
immediately.

What Tech4LYF built and validated here is not just a working system —
it is a validated architecture that no other Indian technology company had
previously engineered and deployed at this level of integration. Affordable
hardware. No proprietary licensing. Room-level accuracy. Wall-penetrating
LoRa coverage. Live operational intelligence. Instant restricted zone alerts.

India’s large enterprise facilities now have a practical, deployable answer
to the indoor visibility problem — built in India, for Indian infrastructure,
by Tech4LYF.

Customer voice

Founder & Engineering Lead
Tech4LYF Corporation

The indoor visibility problem has existed in Indian facilities for decades. Expensive foreign RTLS systems were never a realistic option for most organisations. We built this system to prove that room-level indoor tracking is achievable with practical hardware, at a cost Indian enterprises can actually deploy — and it works completely. Every zone. Every alert. Every employee. Live.
